Welcome to the sleep seekers podcast, I’m your host, Emma Ashford. I am also the creator and founder of Sleep Seekers where we focus on promoting and restoring good quality natural sleep. Natural meaning improving sleep without the aid of mediations. We are about learning the sleep skills that support your mind and body to have a good relationship with sleep and therefore sleep well.

Almost everyone is capable of good sleep, we just need to unblock the things that have been getting in the way and we do this through retraining the mind and body or learning skills that promote sleep.

In this episode, I thought I would run you through the various offerings we have at Sleep Seekers and who these offerings are designed to serve. I will just point out that these are the current offerings at the time of recording - there is more coming and in process all of the time. The other thing to be aware of is that everything we have within Sleep Seekers is also offered in various forms for companies and events. So, if you are looking for sleep training in your workplace or want a presentation at an event, we can accommodate these needs in many different ways, just GET IN TOUCH and we can discuss options.

 

One of the main focuses we have within sleep seekers is to PROMOTE good quality natural sleep. I love this work because so many people need a bit of help in this area because the world we live in acts against our sleep in so many ways.

Part of what I love is that with a bit of education and often very simple adjustments, sleep can be drastically improved which then has huge knock on effects across a person's whole life. It seems crazy to me that this stuff doesn't get taught in schools because it is so important (something I am working on and I want to address.)

Currently within this we have the EVENING WIND DOWN ROUTINE PROGRAMME which is pretty self explanatory ... we work on improving your evening wind down time as this is the time that prepares your mind and body for great sleep. If you are looking to improve your sleep, your wind down time is usually where you should be starting.

As part of this we have the WIND DOWN JOURNAL which is available in physical or digital format depending on what your prefer. Some people like paper and pen, others like digital as it removes clutter. Either way, the format is the same and is designed to help you implement good quality wind down time through using it for a short period of time every day.

There are more physical products in development - so many ideas and so little time! I am also working on creating things to support children to learn the skills of winding down in the evening. This is just a skill and I would consider it to be a life skill that everyone needs. So, watch this space for children moving forwards! 

That covers before bed and preparing for sleep.

THE SLEEP OPTIMISER PROGRAMME covers the whole night in the sense of what to do if you wake up in the night, how to ‘switch off’ for sleep etc. We also consider how what is happening in your day can affect your sleep.

The lovely thing about these programmes aimed at promoting good sleep is that we have a Q&A session with me every month where I can answer your questions, help you through rough patches, help you implement etc.

You can also book sleep consultations with me from within the programme where we can talk 1-1 about your sleep, what you need and how to improve it.

So lots of option to choose what you need. You can just access the course and use it entirely on your own or you can access support either through the Q&A or a 1-1.

We then have the SLEEP SHIFTER PROGRAMME which takes the Sleep Optimiser and applies it to people who work shifts which means that their sleep has to move around. So this is more niche for those people who work shifts as this is such a challenge for your sleep in a very specific way. This programme can also be offered in workplaces for shift workers in various formats. And then we come to my people who have a sleep problem.

Whether you are someone who would call yourself an insomniac or you are just having big problems with sleep, whether this has been an issue for a short amount of time or your whole life - for you we have the SLEEP REBUILDER PROGRAMME which aims to RESTORE and REBUILD your sleep. We are in the process of upgrading and giving this programme a bit of a face lift at the time of recording this but essentially this programme walks you through all the steps you need to take to overcome a sleep problem or insomnia.

This is where my work in sleep began - working with people with big sleep problems. I have always had a soft spot for my long term insomnia people - those people where it has been years since sleeping well or perhaps even not sleeping well since childhood. But, this programme also accommodates for those people where the issue is sleep anxiety or perhaps very up and down sleep that has good patches and bad patches. Within the Sleep Rebuilder, you can choose what level of support you want. You can go through the programme entirely on your own, or you can have support as you go to help you implement and work through the programme. It depends on your sleep situation as well as your personality on which option is best for you.

And finally we have the SLEEP ASSESSMENT- this is a one off, no obligation 1-1 session with me to talk through your specific sleep challenges or difficulties where I can give you my assessment on what is going wrong and what your next best steps would be to solve the problem or which of our programmes would make the most sense for you.

I like to say that I can read sleep - by which I mean someone can tell me about their sleep and I can immediately see the clues that tell us where the problems lie. So you can get a lot of insight through this session where my eyes are on your sleep.
